Toronto, ON (December 5, 2024) – AFC Toronto is thrilled to announce the signing of Japanese player Aoi Kizaki (Ow-ee Key-za-Kee), marking the club’s second international signing. Having made her professional debut with Urawa Reds in 2016, Kizaki has amassed over 100 appearances in the Japanese Women's Empowerment Professional Football League (WE League) - one of the world’s most competitive leagues - going on to represent Elfen Saitama, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and most recently Tokyo Verdy Beleza.
“Aoi is a true student of the game,” said Marko Milanovic, Head Coach of AFC Toronto “Her ability to adapt and excel in multiple roles on the field, paired with her relentless drive to improve, makes her an invaluable addition as we build a team ready to compete at the highest level.”
Kizaki, 26, has represented the Japanese National Team at both U-19 and U-20 levels. As a natural left-sided player who is comfortable on the ball, she has excelled in multiple positions and is equally adept playing wide or inside as a central midfielder.
“Joining AFC Toronto is an incredible opportunity to grow as a player and embrace a new style of soccer, new culture and a new professional environment,” said Aoi Kizaki. “I’m excited to bring my skills and passion to the club, contribute to its success, and inspire the next generation of players.”
Kizaki marks the fifth official signing and second international signing for AFC Toronto.
